Pinto, I strongly support your idea.
I guess many have given up and many are just trying to hang on to their jobs ..but don't give up ..just think about the peace of mind that a GC gives ..no more headaches from lawyers, USCIS, RFE's, employers, DL etc ..at the very least comment on this idea but before you dismiss it come up with a better idea (it is very stupid of people who just criticize but don't come up with alternative ideas).

what if all immigrants and members were to call their local realtors - show interest in buying a house and once the realtor is interested ..tell her / him that you are postponing your home buying decision since the green card has got delayed ..and maybe ask him / her to tell the NAR (national realtor agency) to speak about speeding green cards to legal immigrants who are already here ??
...if people are motivated then maybe we can do media campaign too ..

If that were the case then the rest of us must be equlally skeptical of your ideas since you yourself hail from an oversubscribed country. :cool:
All you need to do is listen to the idea with an open mind and see if that makes sense. Obviously the ppl from oversubscribed countries would love to see these restrictions removed (and I can understand that) but please also keep in mind that the people from ROW will think twice about supporting such a move if it's done without other provisions like increasing the total quota, visa recapture, excluding dependents and faster processing times.
On the other hand if you are from "ROW" then all your attempts to kill this ideas will make me understand how scared you are of this idea and hence how good this idea really is. :)

I believe the proposal has to be amended, it says "20%" of the loan amount , here in CA, the houses are around 500k, 20% of which turns out to be 100k, i dont have that kind of money, looks like everybody out there seems to have ton loads of money !! (damn desis !)

USCIS is already did the ground work required to Use up all the left over visas. I am assuming based in the following theory
1) We have seen in the past in USCIS director interview ( i do not have the link for this) that USCIS and DOS is working closely ( This was lacking in the past) to approve as many cases as they can to use maximum VISA number.
2) By looking at the approvals from last 4 months, who ever i know whose PD's were current got their GC's.This indicates that USCIS is working efficiently then it was before to Use up all the VISAS.
3) Lastly i assume that DOS was moving the dates for EB2 consistently for last three visa bulletins and we all know that for August (last Quarter) it has moved by 2yrs+ (DOS and USCIS waited till last quarter to do this which makes more sense),I believe the reason behind this to use all the Visa Numbers and approve as many cases as they can.

IV works in the interests of both EB2 and EB3 as amitjoey mentioned. we cannot create a Bill to get relief for only one category.
There already exists an very small, unsuccesful org for just EB3 that core is aware of, and they consider IV as their competitors because
1. They do not understand and know nothing of how IV works (just like plainspeak)
2. They want to get donations and members away from IV and make money

I am a simple person who does my job and helps people when i can and yes like every human i have ideas and hopes. Now when i get an idea about an invention i would go to the patents forum and when i get and idea about say investing i would go to an investing forum. Now when i got an idea related to immigration i have come to the forum which stands like a beacon for all immigration community or are you incapable of recognising the fact that that IV (and that means all you guys in in) is big hugh and was doing the right thing when no one else was.
Even now i do not think what IV is doing is wrong. I have differences with the outcome of their approach becasue i feel that this approach wil be bad for EB3. Out of all the people commenting out here there has been NOT even ONE person who has tried to understand the reason for why i feel EB3 is going to get in bad shape. NKR, my friend, i'm puzzled, u speak of in-state tuition, visa stamping, life insurance.. how is that different for ROWs from others, we are all the same in that, we are all the same being skilled immigrants all of us, when i complain that someone says indians and chinese are here in larger numbers because they are best and brightest and ask them to be sensitive it doesn't mean that we all suffer the same hardships.. when i state the fact that bodyshops contributed to the longer lines for some countries i don't say i'm indifferent to your suffering, but i also say it can't be fixed by making another group suffer

This is what I'm doing. I'm flying to Nebraska service center friday night. Will put my shelter in front on PO box and will remain there until Monday morning. Once the USCIS guy comes up to pick up the mails, I'm just going to hand deliver my paper before he even opens his mail box.

Good Things about IV
1. IV Core does not conduct its business in the forum. They learnt this lesson a long time ago.
2. All their work is done in the donor forum and behind the scenes by volunteers
3. If they feel that any idea is worth pursuing they invite that person (with the idea) behind the scenes and pursue that idea
4. All the work is done by IV members themselves because they are helping themselves
5. IV members are investing time and money to do work which impacts a large number of immigrants
6. That is a professional way to do stuff and i admire the way work is done at IV

1. IV always states about the lack of will of people to do something for themselves
2. IV always states that people just comment on forum but do not step forward to do stuff
3. IV always says that people do not donate enough and without donation a grassroot organization will not survive
What IV is doing wrong
1. IV talks about a holistic approach whereby the benefit to EB community will trickle down and once EB2 will become current EB3 will get benefit of spillover
2. IV is assuming EB2 will become current but with the number of indians coming to USA and number of indian students who will graduate from MS courses in USA over the next 5 years EB2I will always be backlogged
3. Plus we are not even talking about EB2 ROW and EB3ROW demand which could go up
4. Supporting the DV 55k bill to US educated GC applicants on the whole looks like a great plan. Sure here are 55k and here are about 150 k GC applicants. 150 - 50 IS 100 K. So if the bill passes we reduce the backlog by 50 k. Now i will am one of the person who will be getting a GC because i am US educated but my opposition to this bill is on principle

That is because EB3 as a whole understands that that rule in the past being interpeted in a wrong way and the current way is the correct interpetation. Sure the old method gave EB3 some extra spill over visa benefit but the new interpetation caused EB3 to dry up compleletly. Now that in itself is against the very nature of self preservation by definition, But EB3 went along for the greater good
What IV can do right
1. Now we have this 55K DV Bill. This is something different from the spillover (which is law and cannot be changed). This is one time oppurtunity to alieviate the sufferings of EB group as a whole. So can IV which is supposed to be talking for the whole EB community do the right thing here and ensure (with advocacy they are so good at) that IV's stand is that 55K visa are given to all GC applicant from retrogressed countries based on oldest priority date first irrespective of EB2 and EB3.
2. The concequence of such a move is that long retrogressed EB applicants will get relief (Which is one of the point IV talks about in their charter)
3. Sure Many US educated applicants from EB2 and EB3 will oppose this move because lets face it, this move impacts their getting GC sooner. And if they behave like that they are in the same category as EB2 guys on this forum who do not entertain any idea which will impact their getting GC soon.
What wil happen if IV does the above
1. The DV 55K bill will NEVER pass in congress. This along with the other bills we have seen will bite the dust because no one in the current economic scenario would like to see more immigrants (US educated or not)

If IV core does not allow discussion on this (and moderate this because frankly some of your existing advocacy group members and volunteers do not know what a discussion is and come out both fists swinging) then that is IV core perogative. they have that right since this is their system and they worked hard for it, and they believe what they say is right.
One question i do have for all the members who have argued with me here. Have you seen all the discussion i have participated under and my other posts. Please do that before yelling that i was a member since 2006 and freeloader and all that. How how does this work. This is a suggestion for discussion NOT a diktat to IV core to implement. If IV core does not allow discussion on this (and moderate this because frankly some of your existing advocacy group members and volunteers do not know what a discussion is and come out both fists swinging) then that is IV core perogative. they have that right since this is their system and they worked hard for it, and they believe what they say is right.
One question i do have for all the members who have argued with me here. Have you seen all the discussion i have participated under and my other posts. Please do that before yelling that i was a member since 2006 and freeloader and all that. You need to do this because if i am you enemy (Scounderal, Liad weed, Anti Immgrant, Future USA etc) then don't you think to know your enemy is better.

Hi VDLRAO,
Couple of months back you were very optimistic about EB2 I will be current soon, what were the things influencing your thoughts.
Do you think EB2 I, will not be crossing 2005 by September 2010 ?
By september 2010 EB2 India will surely enters into 2006.

Assuming that the spill overs are effected only in the last (JAS) quarter, there wont be any significant movement for EB2. Until and otherwise the supply is more than demand, EB2 will not move forward significantly.
But I wish EB2 becomes current in the near future. Correct me if i am wrong.
How "near" is near? For EB2 to become current, the current policy of horizontal spillover should reamin in effect through Fiscal 2009. if that holds true, then as spillover takes effect typically after the first 6 months, we should see movement in India EB2 again, starting from April/May 2009 and there is good possiblity that EB2-India may reach somewhere close to July 2007, if not current.

05/29/2009: TSC is Reportedly in Line with NSC in Processing Time Reduction and Backlog Reduction
They have completed adjudication of almost all of the I-140 petitions which were filed during the FY 2007 Visa Bulletin fiasco (July and August 2007). As for the EB-485 applications, they have preadjudicated 85,000 cases which await the visa number availability beginning from the next fiscal year.
since the EB-485 cases involving fairly early priority dates have been preadjudicated, once the visa numbers progress forward beginning from the new fiscal year, October 2009, a large number of EB-485 waiters are likely to receive approvals of their long-awaited I-485 applications. Hats off to NSC and TSC!!
Lately, I-485 waiters have been receiving RFEs or interview scheduling in a fairly large number. From these reports, we can draw a speculation that these cases have fairly early priority dates and are now undergoing such preadjudications in anticipation for the upcoming visa number availability in early part of FY 2010. They may receive approvals of their cases fairly early in the new fiscal year. With such a good news, please enjoy the SUMMER! .

Agree with Gangubhai totally. I know Americans who have bachelors degrees in physics or graphics arts or even literature from no name colleges who are much better than graduates in IITs both Btech and Mtechs. In fact I even know a high school graduate who was working as a contractor who was really really good. I'm talking about a Fortune 15 company here. As far as Indians are concerned I have seen some young chaps from Wipro,Infosys from no name Indian colleges and they are very good in their work. The college name only helps for your first jobs or to get your resume ahead of others in a pile of resumes that's all.
As someone said to Mr Dilip, he wants to shut the door after him. Not good sir.

If you ignore the VB predictions in the post, the key thing to note is that USCIS and DOS are in constant touch on a weekly basis after the July 07 fiasco. They know exactly the demand and usage rates.
This leads me to one of the following two conclusions:
Either USCIS has intimated to DOS that it can process only X number of cases in the next two months and visas remaining are more than that which is why DOS pushed the dates forward so that consular posts can also maximize usage OR
The numbers remaining are very large for a variety of reasons (category and FB spill over) and USCIS has agreed to process at least a majority if not all the cases within a certain priority date - probably Jun 2006. Based on that DOS agreed to move the PD to June 2006 after also factoring in the CP usage.
Obviously the latter is better for us - but it could be the former as well.
