I can Understand your frustration in this matter. Before blaming on the H1B Quota, we need to think of the grand schema in which this happens. USA is now well known as the only superpowerin this world. Lets take the example of the super-powers in history, Rome and Britain. As Ravi Batra in one of his books said,both of them had some common factors being a super power
1) Military Power: Both these empires had the best Military in the world. They could use the military to make many of their provinces and colonies to accept their terms in doing business
2) Both Rome and Britain used to run on trade deficits. This is because, every other countries( or colonies) were producing goods just to be sold in these empires. Their currency was the most sought after one and powerful elites wanted to hoard as much as they can.Since everybody were having so much currency, they didnt want the super-powers currency to decline in Value( which they reinvested in rome or britain to get more)
3) Cheap Labour:Rome used Slaves to control the commodity price. The living standards of Romans were the best and people even voluntarly enrolled as slaves just to get a roman citizenship after some years.The wage of common people on Rome or Britain never rose, but so did the price of commodities. Britain didnt use slaves, but used the people from its colonies to do the work.Most of them did this voluntarily for a better pay. They used highly-skilled as well as unskilled workers from their colony with less wage to keep the price of commodity stable and cheap .They even enrolled these people to their military to fight wars.
4) Spreading of culture and language to its colonies: Youth were attracted to their culture and it was easy to spread.Elites in these countries liked it and used to send gifts to the ruling guys. Elites were able to create more jobs , to produce more goods and services for the superpowers and that kept the ruling elites to be accepted,for some posts, re-elected and even workshipped by common man.
These are the common character of an economic(military in case of rome and britain) super power. So if me or you or anyone among us fight against this cheap labour concept, we are not going to win. Its a character of this market and will continue

I do send money because I have a dialysis patient at home for 6 years now. and at this time I don't want to point to the healthcare system at all, but my best wishes that you don't have to go there.
I do have properties and business properties in India from before I came to US. I don't want to make this personal by naming the IT businesses I sold but am sure if you are from 90's and from India you are aware of those names.
I am sold those one by one, and that is another line buddy. Capital Assets Line. IT Enquiry Lines, Company liquidation issues (specially if you were a LTD. company), Commerical Property Tribunals, Service Tax lines, State Tax Issues, Central Sales Tax issues. And god forbid if there is a lawsuit filed.
And yes I am in GC line for 8 years. This is the Last line hopefully other than immigration line at India every year. (which is painful for Indian Citizens) but easy for PIO's and Non Citizens.

Let us not fight and belittle ourselves in the community. Just think how people joke about Jayalalitha and Karunanidhi (no pun intended). The same could happen to us also. Atleast keep quiet if not discussing the Immigration issues. Politicians come and go, but people stay forever. Fighting about a local politician in international website like IV will tarnish our image.

07/12/2007: USCIS Reportedly Returning Visa Numbers to DOS
AILA has reported that when Rep. Lofgren issued a letter to Secretary Chertoff, she also disclosed that "It has also come to my attention that USCIS began returning visa numbers to the State Depaartment as early as Thrusday, July 5, 2007." It could be the answer to our question why they are holding July filing cases and why they stopped adjudicating 485 cases for which they pull out the numbers before July 2, 2007. What a mess!

Hi there,
I also used automatic revalidation about 3 months back.. Dont worry, The immigration officer there knows all the rules. FYI, I went by car from rainbow bridge. While comming back officer just asked me normal questions such as "Where are you from ? " and "When are you flying back to Houston ?". Thats about it..

I have two main questions. First question is about 221g. I am stuck in India for administrative processing (no reasons given) for the last 6 months. I would like to know if there are any legal ways of getting the process expedited. Second question is about filing I-485 while on 221g. I have an approved I-140 and if my priority date becomes current while i am still stuck under 221g, what are my options for filing I-485? Can I file or not being outside US. Will AOS be possible or do I need to go for CP? Any other options?

There is the freedom to change jobs and apply for a new TN each time. There is no 6 year or any sort of time cap - TN can be renewed indefinitely..a TN only costs $50 to renew for each year and can be filed without an attorney by mail. No need to physcially go anywhere.
Drawbacks.
1. Spouses/Dependents get TD which is as restrictive as H4
2. There is a fixed list of professions and minimum education qualifications that you/your intended employment HAVE to satisfy to qualify for a TN. Experience cannot be used to substitute lack of education..

I assume that all the EB2 India who have decided to go for CP route will get their immigrant visas stamped in India. I noticed that New Delhi and Mumbai consulates posts a list of candidates due for immigrant visa interview at their website by the middle of the month. May be this list can give us an idea as to how many EB2 India will get their GC through consular posts:

At the links mentioned above, you will find PDF documents telling us how many Employment based (EB2) people are scheduled for an interview during August 2008.
If we can search and locate similar links for Chennai, and Kolkata consulate, probably by mid August we would be in a position to find out how many EB2 India are going to get their GC's in August 2008 through CP route. This will also tell us how many visas USCIS has got to process/waste.
